Nasty Rainy Day. If I was training for a race - I would run in this. But I am just pre-training - getting back in shape - so running aborted.

BUT - I have a wonderful dinner tonight, where I will be eating all the meat I can stuff in my face - so I did 60 Hard Minutes on the elliptical. I am not sure I remember being as sweaty as I was this morning. Except for that time in 'nam.
April 26th

Time: 27:29

Nike says - 2.94
pace: 9:20

G-maps says - 3.18
pace: 8:38

I ran hard, I wanted to run a fast 3 miles, so I really pushed myself, and was tired as shit at the end of the 3 miles - which would reflect a 8:38 pace.

Stupid Nike! I need to re-calibrate - but the calibration runs do not count as a work-out. I should do it this morning, tomorrow I start a challenge with some UCB NERDS on the Nike+ site. First person to 150 miles, ran 150 miles first.

Adidas Run for the Parks 4 Mile Race.

My first race of the year! I love being a member of NYRR club, I am alerted about upcoming races, and get discounts on them. My biggest complaint about races are when people stand in the wrong corral. I stood in the 9mile pace corral, which means I would hit the starting line after the 8 min mile people, faster people in the front, for a reason! It took about 7 minutes for me to get to the start line, and after that it took about the first mile until I was running with out interference from runners who place themselves in a corral they did not belong. There were also 8,000 people running, which was not taken into account. They should have done the race in waves.

Anyway! I finished, got my free bananas and cliff bars and went home.

Distance 4 Mile
Time: 35:42
Pace: 8:55

My goal was to do it in 36 minutes, so I am happy with it.

The last 4 mile race I ran was July 2006 - my pace was 8:06 - I plan on building back to that.

Saturday - April 21st
Ran in my Saucony sneaks.
Distance: 4.09
Time: 39:35
Pace: 9:39

I am really starting to enjoy my Nike+ - I am trying not to worry about the accuracy so much. Nike claims it is 97% accurate. It is fun to just run and not have a pre-set course. I ran to a H-School I saw the other day on a run, they had a really nice track, the gate was open, so I did 5 laps around the track. There was a man there also running around the track, but he was in khaki pants and was running around while balancing an egg on a spoon. Weird!

I did not feel any pain. So I am going to keep the Saucony Triumph's. I am going to use them for my shorter runs, to break them in.

Friday, April 20, 2007

Put on my New Balance sneaks to test my theory that my Saucony's are onsetting my ITB pain. I went 4.77 miles, no pain, and getting faster with a 9:45 pace. This is all according to my Nike+ - which so far seems accurate enough. I'll put my Saucony's on tomorrow to see how far I get.

April 18th, 2007
I re-calibrated my Nike+ for 1 mile, then I ran another 1.82. My ITB started to hurt. I was wearing my new Saucony sneakers. I am really hoping it was just a bad day and not them.

Tuesday, April 17, 2007

I received my Nike+ ipod attachment yesterday, so I tried it this morning.
I had to calibrate it first. It took me two attempts to get it right. I was going to run 1 mile to set it. But I turned one block too soon so my mile was off, so I had to do it again. It set my pace at 9:48. Then I did a Basic Training Session, but the length of the run was not accurate. It was about .1-.2 off. I'll try recalibrate again tomorrow. I think I ran about 3.5 miles, in about 35ish minutes with stops here and there for the calibration. My IT started hurting a bit though, this put me in a bad mood. I may need to spend more time stretching before these runs, and hitting my post PT excersizes harder.

I applied for the NYC 1/2 Marathon - hopefully I get in, and Hopefully I'll be fully healed so I can start to train properly.

I have a 4 mile Race Sunday Morning, and it is supposed to be 65 on Saturday, running weather!

I put on my new sneakers!

3.1 miles

I was feeling good from the start! So far the sneakers are good. I like the cushion.

April 12th
I was in Pensacola Florida with UCB Tour Co. We were doing a show at the University of West Florida. It is not easy getting to Pensacola. I had to be at the airport at 9:30, which is not that early, the problem was we had a connecting flight and would not be landing until 4:30pm our time. That is a long ass commute.

I was able to get a warm weather run in though. I ran for about 33 minutes. The ground felt harder down there, and my body/lungs were not used to the 80 degree weather I was running in. The sun felt good on my pale, pale skin.

Tuesday, April 10, 2007

Today I was allowed to run Clockwise. I have been going counter to balance out my leg, so now it was time to see how far I could go before any pain. I made it just shy of 5 miles, and I was exhausted. I am excited for the weather to warm up, I love hitting the road, just not as much when it is cold.

4.7 Miles
Time 46:32
Pace: 9:54

Not bad. I am running.

I also went to PT today, and I am officially discharged! No more PT!!! I just have to keep up on my workouts to keep my legs strong to prevent injury.

I celebrated my discharge with a trip to Jack Rabbit, I picked my self up a new pair of Saucony Running shoes. It is such a decision, I tested them out on a treadmill, I like the cushion, I am hitting the ground harder because of the weight I put on, so hopefully by end of May I can pick up a second pair of lighter sneaks when the weight is off.

I am not ready to commit to a Marathon yet, I have to see how April goes, then we'll see what the options are.

Saturday, April 07, 2007

I had PT on Thursday. My therapist told me he wanted me to run as far as I could or 8 miles, which ever came first. He also had me do the Mountain Climber exercise, on both legs. I have not been doing it on my left leg, just my right. So I knew I was going to wake up feeling like a cripple, and I did. My right leg is sore as fuck. Especially day two, today, Saturday - when I went for my run.

7.25 Miles
1 hour 13 Minutes 50 Seconds
Pace 10:10

I also ran with my ipod today. I have not had music on my runs since the first month or so that I was running. I was scared I would zone out and run into traffic, I tried again today, and the run was a lot more fun. I may try the ipod + nike thingy majig.

Thursday, April 05, 2007

I was geared up to run, but Satch got sick this morning, and it started snowing outside, so I made it a cross training day.

Elliptical 35 Minutes

I have PT in 4 hours.

I feel like I am getting stronger. I have PT tomorrow, hopefully my second to last appointment.

3.2 Miles -
32:41
Pace: 9:54

I am still feeling slow, I thought I felt the onset of some pain in my knee, so I decided to stop at 3.2. I don't want to push it, I have not run this consistent for 5 months, so I need to remember to ease into it.

So I signed up for a race, 4/22. A 4 mile event, looking forward to having a finish line.
