3-4 Easy Miles

Wednesday, August 29, 2007

Monday the 27th I did 45 Minutes on the elliptical.
Tuesday I was supposed to run 5-6 Quality Miles, but I had a late night on Monday, and an early morning with a long day Tuesday, so I slept in as late as I could (9am) and took a rest day.
Today I woke up and ran a little over 4.5 miles. My Nike + messed up so I don't have proper recording of my run.

Also - I can't stop eating and I need to stop eating.

Friday was a designated rest day. I flew to St. Louis and did a couple of shows with UCB Tour Co. at the University of Illinois, Springfield. The shows were a blast, and we got back to the Hotel in St. Louis around 2 am.

I woke up Saturday and did 2 miles on the Treadmill at the hotel. Saturdays are usually my days for Long runs, but I had to switch things around with traveling. I also HATE treadmills. I do not feel like I am really getting a workout because the ground is being moved for me.

I woke up this morning and did my long run.

I double checked my route on gmaps-pedometer - I actually ran 8.4 miles. Pace: 9:45

Running for an hour and 20 minutes makes me sleepy.

4-5 Tempo miles. I just tried to run faster than I have been the past few weeks.

Scheduled to do 4-5 Quality Miles.
I turned into a pussy when I awoke to a rainy morning.
So I did 45 Minutes on the Elliptical, while watching The Hills.

Monday August 20th
Xtrain - 45 Minutes on Elliptical

Sunday August 19th
Blech. Busy day led to me bailing on scheduled 2-3 mile run.

Long run - 7-8 Miles

I only made it a bit over 6 today. My IT band started acting up. It was my own fault, should have switched my long run until tomorrow. I woke up at 9:30 only because my phone was ringing, and it was my brother telling me that there was a party for my dad at 1pm. Awesome, thanks for confirming that for me hours before the party. So I tried to do a Rushed run, I did not eat, and I barely stretched, and I paid for it.
Sometimes my ipod acts funny, and it ended the run early - so I have it as 2 separate runs, but it is one run. Anyway, the main point is that it was not an impressive or enjoyable run.

3-4 Mile Tempo Run.
This means I should be increasing my speed for periods of time, then running at regular pace.
I tried.

5 "quality" miles -
This means I should be a little more out of breath at the end of the run - which I was.

Monday August 13th
Xtraining day - I abused the elliptical for 30 minutes

Today is Long Run Day. On the schedule 5-6 Miles.
I had to break it up into two runs that were very close together. I signed up for a 5k (3.2 miles) race about a month ago that was postponed until this morning. It took place at Shea Stadium. AVM dropped me off around 8am. I started in the parking lot, ran to the Worlds Fair Sphere, then back to the Parking lot where we then entered the Stadium via Center Field, around the edge of the Stadium on the dirt track and finished near Home Plate where a bunch of handicapped children were on display. The race was part of a fundraising effort for St. Mary's Hospital. I felt pretty good about my time 26:13 - it gave me an 8:26 pace. I knew I had another 3 miles to run after the race, so I didn't want to destroy myself.

Then I grabbed some water and walked out of the parking lot, and ran home. Yep thats right! I live probably about 4+ miles away, so I did not run the entire way, I walked the last 1/4 or so of a mile. Shea Stadium is attached to Flushing Meadows Corona Park, so I ran through the park, then onto a local road towards home. It was fun. I felt pretty strong the entire time. My run home was 3.7 miles, probably more than I should have done. Below are my Nike + fun time imbeds!

The last time I posted on this blog, Satch was sleeping next to me. He has since passed and it has taken me a while to get back on my feet, but I am. Hopefully in 15 weeks I'll be running the Philadelphia Marathon, 7/30 was day 1 of training. Below are my recent runs 7/30 and on- I'll keep a better log from now on.
